I remember the awe-inspiring feeling I had when I saw the continent of Africa for the first time. The sun was rising as crashing waves hit the shore in the south. The pilot pointed out the island where South African leader Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for years, and it made me thankful for the justice and redemption that God offers us.
I remember how small and insignificant I felt that morning. I remember the sensation that I was about to experience a new aspect of God — a side of His personality I had not known before. And it was true. Africa was like nothing I had ever known. The expanse of God overtook me.
And this is what our Heavenly Father is impressing upon me yet again during my time in India. “You are about to experience me in a way you have never known before.”
There is a knowledge deep within that I’m here TO SERVE more than TEACH. To learn. To receive. To pray. To know joy.
I have noticed already how service-oriented God’s people are in India. They enjoy serving. It’s an honor and blessing to them. There is great poverty externally yet they aren’t distracted by what they DON’T have. I wish our son could be here with me. So much of what he sees in US culture is centered on “self.”
A lot can be learned by observation that’s driven by humility. Servanthood over superiority. It’s a Kingdom characteristic.
Today I begin training leaders. Am I excited? Yes. But more than that, I am greatly humbled. The teachings within the “package” of SureFire Prayer are so powerful. It drives me to my knees in sober judgment thinking of the incredible assignment God has given me to teach children how to pray and help leaders worldwide do the same. Very soon, the training I’m doing here will be available as an online class through our website. All those years of TV and radio work are still paying off!
But now those skills are used for God’s glory. It’s an honor to serve in this capacity. Pray that I do this from a place of humility, joy, and genuineness that will bless the nations….especially this one.
